The Apostolic Council of the Apostolic Johannite Church is the highest ranking
distinct body
of the Apostolic Johannite Church. The Code of Canon Law outlines that the Apostolic Council is composed of the Episcopacy of the Apostolic Johannite Church, however, the Patriarch of the Apostolic Johannite Church has traditionally appointed memebers from beyond the Episcopacy, based on personal discretion.

The Apostolic Council is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Apostolic Johannite Church, and its constituent and subordinate organizations including but not limited to: Ecclesiastical Dicasteries and St. Raphael the Archangel Seminary,

In addition to these responsibilities, the Apostolic Council also serves as the highest advisory body to the Office of the Patriarch in matters pertaining to the Governance and Discipline of the Apostolic Johannite Church and its clergy.

Its decisions are considered to be binding upon the whole of the Apostolic Johannite Church subject only to the ratification or veto of the Office of the Patriarch.

Members of the Apostolic Council are normally appointed ad vitam by the Patriarch of the Apostolic Johannite Church from the laity or the clergy
